WalkMe is an enterprise digital adoption platform, quoted on request. HelpHero does the in-app tours part, on a price you can read off the pricing page today.
Last updated 31 July, 2026
WalkMe more or less invented the category these tools sit in, and it is a much bigger product than HelpHero. That is where this comparison has to start.
A digital adoption platform is meant to sit over every application an organisation runs, web, native mobile, desktop and SAP alike, measure how people use them, and layer guidance and automation on top. WalkMe does all of that, and it has the enterprise apparatus to match: SSO, custom roles, SIEM integration, regional data residency, FedRAMP-Ready status. It has been part of SAP since 2024.
HelpHero is smaller on purpose. It builds product tours, checklists and hotspots for web apps, includes every feature on every plan, and publishes what it costs. The question worth asking is whether the job you have needs a platform or needs tours.
Choose HelpHero if…
You need in-app guidance for a web application, you want to see the price and start a trial today, and you would rather not run a procurement cycle to get onboarding tours live.
You need guidance inside native mobile apps, desktop clients or SAP GUI, you want application analytics and licence discovery alongside it, and you have enterprise security and procurement requirements to satisfy.

01Overlap
Where the two meet
Set aside everything WalkMe does that HelpHero does not and there is a real patch of shared ground in the middle: the in-app guidance itself. On that patch the two products want the same things.
In-app walkthroughs, checklists, tooltips and notifications
A code-free editor anyone on the team can use
Audience segmentation and targeting rules
Theming and branding, including white-labeling
Surveys to collect feedback inside the product
Localization for users in other languages
Analytics on how the guidance you publish performs
Installs into an existing web app without rebuilding it
Outside that patch the two diverge sharply, and the differences are more about scope than quality.
Reach beyond the browser
WalkMe
This is the big one, and it is not close. WalkMe lists a Mobile Native SDK for in-app guidance inside native iOS and Android apps, a WalkMe Menu that runs on web, mobile and desktop, support for desktop applications, and DAP support for SAP GUI for Windows and SAP Business Client. HelpHero works on web apps, including mobile and tablet browsers, and nothing else. If the software your people are stuck in is a native app or a Windows client, HelpHero cannot help and WalkMe can.
Knowing what it costs
HelpHero
WalkMe's pricing page carries a full feature list and no numbers. Its calls to action are "Request a quote" and "Get a quote", and the quote form wants your job title, company and department before anyone talks price. HelpHero publishes every tier on its pricing page, so you can work out your bill in about thirty seconds and start a trial without speaking to anyone.
Analytics and Discovery
WalkMe
WalkMe measures far more than its own content. Insights analyses engagement with the underlying applications, Flow Analytics gives funnel, path and compare views of end-to-end journeys, and Discovery maps company-wide web app usage down to the user to control licence costs and find shadow IT. HelpHero reports on your tours and expects you to send events to whatever analytics tool you already run.
How much platform you have to buy
HelpHero
WalkMe's feature list runs to Admin Center, custom roles, SSO, 2FA, censorship controls, proxy support, end-user hashing, SIEM integration, static file storage and regional cloud residency. That is a serious enterprise apparatus, and it is exactly what a large IT organisation needs. If what you want is onboarding tours in one web app, it is a lot of platform to procure, deploy and govern to get there.
The verdict
WalkMe is the broader product by a wide margin. HelpHero covers the part of it that most teams asking about product tours are shopping for.
02Pricing
WalkMe does not publish a price
There is no price comparison to make here, because there is nothing to compare against. WalkMe's pricing page lists the complete feature set for both of its offerings, WalkMe for employees and WalkMe for customers, and does not name a single figure. What it says about price is that its plans "are designed for any organization to benefit from digital adoption", next to a button marked Get a quote. There are no tiers and no starting price.
That is normal for enterprise software and it is not a criticism, but it does change what you can find out before committing time. Getting a WalkMe number means a form asking for your job title, company name and department, and then a conversation. You will find figures for WalkMe on comparison blogs and marketplace sites; none of them come from WalkMe, we cannot verify them, and we are not going to repeat them on this page.
One future cost WalkMe does state on its own pricing page: consumption of its contextual AI assistance capabilities "will require purchase of AI Units starting January 2027". If AI assistance is part of why you are looking, that is worth raising in the quote conversation.

The verdict
HelpHero's entire price list is public, where WalkMe's starts with a conversation. Whether that matters depends on whether you are buying a tool or running a procurement process.
03Trade-offs
Where each one is the stronger choice
These are not really the same size of product, so this list is longer on WalkMe's side than on most of our comparisons. That is fair: WalkMe does a great deal that HelpHero has never attempted.
WalkMe is stronger at
Native iOS and Android guidance through the Mobile Native SDK
Desktop applications and SAP GUI, not just the browser
Discovery and UI Intelligence for app usage and licence costs
ActionBot and a suite of contextual AI assistance
SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, FedRAMP-Ready and HIPAA attestations
SSO, custom roles, SIEM integration and regional data residency
HelpHero is stronger at
A published price for every tier, with no quote to request
A free 14 day trial you start yourself, no credit card
Every feature on every plan, with unlimited tours and team members
No cap on audience segments
Live in an afternoon from a JavaScript snippet or Chrome extension
If guidance has to follow your people into native apps, desktop clients and SAP, and you need to prove adoption with application-level analytics, WalkMe is built for that and HelpHero is not. If the whole job is helping new users through a web app without waiting on a procurement cycle, HelpHero does that part well, at a price you can read before you commit. We have a preference about which one to buy, but not about which of those two problems you have.
HelpHero is the only tool on the market that has reasonable, sane pricing for small business / budgets.

04Questions
Common questions
How much does WalkMe cost?
WalkMe does not publish pricing; it is quoted on request. Its pricing page lists the features in each of its two offerings, WalkMe for employees and WalkMe for customers, but carries no figures at all. The only statement about price is that "our pricing plans are designed for any organization to benefit from digital adoption", followed by a "Get a quote" button. Third-party sites publish numbers for WalkMe; we have no way to check them, so we do not repeat them here.
Does WalkMe have a free trial?
Not one you can start from its website. The calls to action on walkme.com are "Request a demo" and "Request a quote", and the quote form asks for your job title, company name and department first. HelpHero has a free 14 day trial with no credit card and no call: you sign up and start building.
What does WalkMe do that HelpHero does not?
Quite a lot. WalkMe reaches beyond the browser with a Mobile Native SDK for iOS and Android, desktop application support and DAP support for SAP GUI. It analyses the applications themselves through Insights, Flow Analytics and Discovery, rather than only its own content. It adds ActionBot for conversational automation, and enterprise machinery like SSO, custom roles, SIEM integration and regional cloud residency. HelpHero does none of that: it builds tours, checklists and hotspots for web apps.
Is HelpHero a genuine WalkMe alternative?
It depends on why you were looking at WalkMe. If you need in-app guidance for one or a few web applications and the appeal of a digital adoption platform is the guidance rather than the analytics and the desktop reach, then yes, and for a published price you can check today. If you are rolling out guidance across native mobile apps, desktop clients and SAP for thousands of employees, HelpHero is not in that class of tool.
Is WalkMe part of SAP?
Yes. SAP completed its acquisition of WalkMe in September 2024, in an all-cash deal valuing WalkMe at about US$1.5 billion, and WalkMe was delisted from Nasdaq. WalkMe still sells and is documented as its own platform, and its pricing page still lists both the employee-facing and customer-facing offerings.
How hard is it to get started with HelpHero?
HelpHero installs as a JavaScript snippet or through the Chrome extension, in the same way as Google Analytics or Intercom, so getting it running takes minutes rather than a deployment project. Building your first tour is the same afternoon. If you are moving guidance across from another tool, our support team will help you plan it.
